Brown Dog Ice Cream in Cape Charles

Brown Dog Ice Cream is a locals spot in Cape Charles, Va. Due to the pandemic, we are no longer able to go inside as the creamery is very small. You can now order for local delivery, pick up or simply walk to the window and order. They have chosen to use credit only as a source of payment during this time. The actual ice cream is great. I had the banana pudding and the Aunt Mae? (A delightful concoction of sweet cream, caramel, Virginia peanuts) in a cup and my hubby got a pint of cookies and cream. We attempted to sit on one of the benches on the downtown strip but social distancing was not our friend. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable of their products which include some unique flavors, milkshakes, cones and cups.In a measure of sustainability, I noticed the paper cups (no styrofoam or plastic) and of course generously sized wooden spoons. This town sits on the Chesapeake Bay to which you can see from Brown Dog Ice Cream.

Wonderful ice cream..... served with care for customers and consideration for employees. All employees must wear masks and customers must do the same. For those who complain about wearing a mask....please remember that we are a small town with limited health care facilities. I am so grateful for the concern brown dog ice cream has for the health and welfare of our community....and of course, for the delicious ice cream!!

I love how they are adamant regarding masks and social distancing. The ice cream is ALWAYS delicious!
